Chetan’s 40th — A Cocktail Party With a Dhol Player
Some birthdays get a dinner. Chetan’s 40th got a dance floor, a dhol player, and his name in lights. A December night in a brick-walled lounge, photographed the way it felt — loud, warm, and in motion.
The Room
Brick walls, string lights, dark wood floors, a working bar. The set opens in medias res: champagne close-ups, pink cocktails being poured, cards on a table, guests already deep in conversation. No buildup needed.
The Floor
Suits and turbans, evening dresses, and then the dancing — couples, groups, the whole floor — with a live dhol drummer performing in the middle of the crowd. It’s the centerpiece of the gallery and it isn’t close.
The Name in Lights
The closing frames gather everyone in front of illuminated marquee letters spelling CHETAN, clear balloons lit gold around them: group portrait after group portrait, the party posing with its own headline.
