Aruna’s 60th Birthday — A Garden Party at Home
A gold sign, a garden arch, and three generations in their brightest colors. Aruna’s 60th was a house party in the best sense — home-cooked, home-decorated, and photographed from first setup to last dusk portrait.
The Setting
A garden arch dressed in pink flowers under a gold “Aruna’s 60th Birthday” sign, a BAR sign by the drinks, food tables on the lawn, and inside, a yellow-walled room with a balloon-framed doorway. The set opens on the details before the first guests arrive.
The Family
Under the arch: Aruna in orange and gold at the center of group after group — saris in lime, pink, blue, and gold, kurtas and suits, grandchildren in party clothes. The cover portrait says it all: everybody under the flowers.
The Party and the Cake
A buffet of rice and curries on white-clothed tables, mingling indoors and out, and at the peak, a white tiered cake with candles, cut with the family gathered around. The gallery closes with evening portraits under the arch as the garden went dark and gold.
